
Seeking newly-licensed behavior analysts!
We are hiring new BCBAs interested in continued support and guidance. BCBAs will learn our compassionate and thoughtful approach to the treatment of developmental disabilities while developing their own niche within the field.
You are eligible to apply if you:
- Have passed the BCBA exam and have, or are willing to pursue, licensure in Virginia
- Are interested in continued training and professional development from other BCBAs
- Can provide a combination of direct service, supervision, and family treatment guidance
- Are passionate about Early Intervention for toddlers and preschoolers diagnosed with autism and other developmental challenges
- Have reliable transportation and can commute to client sites in Arlington, Alexandria, and eastern Fairfax County, Virginia
New BCBAs will receive:
- Base salary of $50,000 for full-time work (or $25,000 for part-time work)
- Billable hour bonuses up to $25,000 per year for total compensation of up to $75,000
- 4 weeks of flexible time off per year
- 13 paid holidays, including a 3 days off at Thanksgiving and 5 days off at Christmas
- Scheduling flexibility for personal interests, family obligations, health appointments, etc.
- Individualized and frequent support from other BCBAs

Responsibilities:
- Direct work with clients and families
- Conduct sessions of 97155 Treatment with Protocol Modification; assess RBTs’ implementation and make changes to programs, targets, and procedures
- Conduct Sessions of 97156 Family Treatment Guidance; train family members using Patterson Behavior curriculum, discuss barriers to progress, provide coaching on implementation
- Fill in for others who call out (if not already scheduled with a client), including to conduct sessions of 97153 Treatment by Protocol
- Bill approximately 15 hours with clients per week (30 hours per pay period), earn bonuses for exceeding this
- Write session notes within Hi Rasmus software, make sure all submitted prior to Monday morning
- Collect data within Hi Rasmus
- Supervision of technicians
- Assist with providing supervision to Graduate Interns accruing hours toward the certification exam
- Use Behavioral Skills Training (model, prompt, provide feedback) when training employees
- Complete initial and renewal RBT assessments
- Model new programs for technicians before asking them to implement
- Complete Fidelity Check assessments in Hi Rasmus at each supervision
- Provide constructive and honest feedback while remaining approachable and friendly
- Attend crisis training (alongside technicians) and assist technicians with challenging situations
- Supervise a minimum of 10% per client per month for technicians employed with Patterson less than 1 year
- Supervise a minimum of 5% per client per month for technicians employed with Patterson more than 1 year
- Inform supervisor if technicians are not meeting their responsibilities
- Assessments
- Conduct sessions of 97151 Assessment: observation at home, observation in social setting, interview caregivers, probe client’s baseline skills
- Write a comprehensive report for each client’s initial assessment using Patterson Behavior format
- Obtain parent signature for consent to implement treatment plan outlined in initial assessment
- Obtain parent signature for consent to communicate with relevant others
- Complete formal and informal assessments and observations throughout the course of treatment, document findings for assessment report updates each 6 months
- Send necessary documents to administrator for new preauthorization 2 weeks prior to end of authorization period
- Review technicians’ notes and data at least weekly for clients on your caseload
- Write transition summaries for clients who are discharged and CC supervisor on transition plan emails
- Communication
- Meet with client’s daycare, preschool, or school staff (if applicable) to explain treatment plan and offer training
- Keep a daily to-do list and complete or delegate tasks in a timely manner
- Update Patterson Behavior calendar when scheduling client meetings, include location and guests
- Respond to client and employee emails within approximately 1 business day
- Use Google Chat or phone call to communicate with employees about time-sensitive issues
- Inform technicians of client cancellations made to BCBA
- Confirm that technician cancellations have been communicated to parents and relevant staff
- Inform supervisor and reschedule any appointments you must cancel
- Inform supervisor immediately of notable incidents (injury, illness, innapropriate caretaker behavior, etc.)
- Inform supervisor if families are not meeting their responsibilities (cancelling meetings, not implementing outside sessions, etc.)
- Inform supervisor at least 6 months in advance if planning to recommend step-down (usually to parent meetings only) or discharge from services
- Resolve misunderstandings and disagreements, or escalate to supervisor
- Serve as a role model to technicians for friendly, prompt, and effective communication
- Materials
- Keep Patterson Behavior iPad or other electronic device(s) charged for sessions
- Communicate to supervisor when materials are needed
- Communicate to supervisor if materials are lost or damaged
- Return unneeded materials to supervisor
- Interacting with payors
- This is handled mostly by our administrator, but BCBA may need to call insurance companies to give more information for an authorization
